Amber Morgan named to board of directors of Red Pine Camp Foundation

Red Pine Camp Foundation, Inc which operates Red Pine Camp for Girls, a summer residential girls camp located in Minocqua, WI, has announced that Whitefish Bay resident, Amber Morgan, has been named to Red Pine’s Board of Directors.

“We were seeking a specific blend of talents and skill sets,” Connie Scholfield, Red Pine Camp’s Executive Director, explains. “Red Pine is entering its 73rd season. We are a not for profit 501 (c) 3 organization. Amber brings a wonderful talent and along with our other members of the Board of Directors will guide Red Pine so we will remain a viable summer camp for girls and will remain true to the values set forth by founders Richard and Helen Wittenkamp.”

Red Pine Camp was family owned until 2007. Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation acquired Red Pine Camp with the intention that it would remain a camp which would focus on nature and empowerment for girls and with the intent to hold the property until the Red Pine Camp Foundation had time to establish its operational structure. In December of 2009 Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation gifted the property to Red Pine Camp Foundation, Inc.

Amber Morgan has been associated with Red Pine Camp since 1976 as a camper, counselor, and is now a parent of two Red Pine Camp campers. Amber is a Certified Public Accountant and a former Senior Tax Manager for Arthur Anderson LLP in the Chicago, Hong Kong and Milwaukee offices. She specialized in large corporate and multi-national taxation, earnings and profits analysis, and expatriate taxation. Amber was a firm-wide specialist in the research & development tax credit and assisted numerous U.S. corporations to structure their investment into China.

“My 13 years at Red Pine have influenced who I am today more than any other experience in my life. Red Pine gave me self confidence, instilled in me a sense of adventure and an appreciation of nature, taught me social and athletic skills I continue to use today, and provided me with wonderful friends for a lifetime.”

Red Pine Camp also named to its board Sheila McNulty of Glenview, IL, Chip Halverson, Northview, IL, Sandra Drewes, Oxford, Ohio, and Pleasant Rowland, Madison, WI. Irene Boudreaux, retired co-director of the camp and who resides in Minocqua, WI, was named an honorary member.

Red Pine Camp is a traditional residential summer camp for girls ages 7-16. Red Pine is known for the individual care given to each camper and the quality of its staff. Emphasis is placed on harmonious, courteous and responsible group living, respect for self and others, and an appreciation and utilization of the natural beauty that surrounds camp. Typically, campers attend from 27 states and 11 foreign countries. They learn a wide variety of camping and athletic skills.
