Catholic Memorial turned up its defense to force Whitefish Bay into a frigid shooting performance in the first half and advanced to this week's state finals in Madison. CM's Derek Schell scored a game-high 22 points.
Certainly, Whitefish Bay Dominican's WIAA Division 2 regional final with Destiny didn't earn many style points. But the play of Deysha Smith-Jenkins and the end result looked awfully good to Dominican. Smith-Jenkins had 27 points and 13 rebounds to power the Knights to a rout of the Eagles.

Whitefish Bay defeated Ripon, 62-47, in a Division 2 sectional semifinal March 12.
The top wrestlers in the state took to mats during the first day of the WIAA State Tournament in Madison on Feb. 25.
There was a trip to state on the line when area wrestlers took to the mats at the Hartford Sectional on Feb. 20.
