Police Report: May 23

BAYSIDE

1A 28-year-old Cedarburg woman was arrested for drunken driving and refusal to take a breath test after she hit a curb exiting Interstate 43 at Brown Deer Road at 2:45 a.m. May 14. When asked what she had to drink, she said, "Nothing." Her male passenger, 31, was asked the same question. He said, "A lot."

2A theft of jewelry and other items was reported in the 9200 block of North Thrush Lane at 5 p.m. May 18. The case is under investigation but there is a suspect, a 49-year-old Mequon woman, who was arrested for a theft in Grafton.

BROWN DEER

3A 14-year-old Milwaukee boy was cited for underage drinking and a curfew violation after police saw him and another boy walking in the 8300 block of North 46th Street at 12:45 a.m. May 7. The boy denied drinking at first but then admitted it. His blood alcohol content was 0.017.

4The sunroof of a car was broken causing $500 damage in the 8300 block of North 46th Street May 7 or 8.

5A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent after taking a man's car from the 8100 block of North 67th Street at 5:35 a.m. May 12. The man and woman had different stories but did agree that they met at Potawatomi Casino early that morning. She told him then she lost $400 and he offered her something to drink at his place. When they got there, she refused to go inside but asked him to make her something to eat. He agreed, went inside, made a sandwich and when he came out, she and the car were gone. The car was located on 10th and Orchard streets and the woman was found hiding in a bathtub about a block away. She said the man told her she could use his car for a few days. She also said they smoked marijuana in the car.

6An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was cited for selling without a permit at Pick 'n Save, 9200 N. Green Bay Road, at 5:30 p.m. May 12. The man asked people for money for a youth basketball team that didn't exist. He said he needed the money to buy food for his family. However, he had $100 and a smart phone.

7A 23-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for drunken driving, driving with a suspended license, driving with a suspended registration because of unpaid parking tickets and emission problems and violation of a red light in the 6400 block of West Bradley Road at 3:30 a.m. May 14. When asked what he had been drinking, he said, "Nothing." His BAC was 0.14.

8A 29-year-old Brown Deer man was arrested for possession of 0.9 grams of marijuana after he was seen sitting in a car with fogged up windows in the 4600 block of West Dean Road at 5:45 p.m. May 14. When asked he said he was minding his own business. Two roaches and two blunts were found in his car.

9A 48-year-old Brown Deer man was taken into protective custody after he refused to open his door on a report of a natural gas leak in his apartment in the 9500 block of North Green Bay Road at 6:45 p.m. May 15. The man yelled profanities through his door. When entry was gained, the gas level was at 25 parts per million and the apartment was very hot. The man said he turned on his oven to stay warm. Windows were opened and no injuries or damage was reported.

10A 13-year-old Brown Deer boy was cited for disorderly conduct at Brown Deer Middle School, 5757 W. Dean Road, about 8 a.m. May 16. The boy brought a toy handgun to school and as he walked into school pointed it at the back of the head of a staff member and pulled the trigger making a clicking sound. The boy said he found the gun that morning and thought it "looked cool." He said he was just having fun.

FOX POINT

11A 41-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for drunken driving and driving with a suspended license after she ran out of gas between the Fox Point police station and Village Hall, 7200 N. Santa Monica Blvd., at 3:50 a.m. May 15. Her preliminary BAC was 0.145.

12Four junk lawn mowers and some scrap metal valued at about $80 were taken from a side yard at North Point Service, 8000 N. Port Washington Road, on May 16 or 17.

13A video recorder and batteries valued at $120 were taken from the orchestra room at Maple Dale School, 8377 N. Port Washington Road, during the day May 18.

GLENDALE

14A 41-year-old Grafton man was arrested for drunken driving, with four prior convictions, and driving after revocation in the 5600 block of North Sunset Lane at 2:15 a.m. May 13. He was stopped after pulling his car over and flashing his lights and then driving away. When asked if he'd been drinking, the man said, "Oh, very little. Just one beer three hours ago." His BAC was 0.07 and he was taken for a blood draw.

15A 28-year-old Mequon man was arrested for drunken driving and warned for unsafe lane deviation and speeding in excess of 85 mph in a 55 mph zone in the 5800 block of Interstate 43 at 2:30 a.m. May 14. The man, who said he had a "couple of beers and shots after work," had a BAC of 0.17.

16A 45-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for battery in the 6500 block of North Green Bay Avenue at 10:30 p.m. May 14. The man reportedly became angry when another man made a negative comment about being gay. He then tackled that man and choked him and fled the scene. He was arrested when he returned a short time later and admitted he had "lost it."

17A 35-year-old Fox Point woman was arrested for drunken driving and given a warning for lane deviation and an illegal U-turn in the 5500 block of North Port Washington Road at 3 a.m. May 15. The woman said she made the U-turn because she needed gas. She also said she had only one "tall Apple Martini" hours before. Her BAC was 0.12.

18A 15-year-old Glendale girl was arrested for battery/domestic and truancy from Nicolet High School, 6701 N. Jean Nicolet Road, at 10:40 a.m. May 18. The girl forged a note saying her mother was taking her out of school that afternoon and then at home she told her mother school was canceled. A fight began after her mother checked with the school and found out her daughter was lying.

RIVER HILLS

19A purse and contents including credit cards and cash was taken from a car parked at Indian Hills School, 1101 W. Brown Deer Road, between 12:30 and 12:46 p.m. May 15. A rear window was broken to gain entry. A similar theft was reported there May 13.

SHOREWOOD

20A bicycle valued at $450 was taken from a bike rack at Shorewood High School, 1701 E. Capitol Drive, during the day May 13. The bike was locked.

21A resident reported seeing two college-age males enter her back yard and take two bicycles in the 2400 block of East Stratford Court about 6:30 p.m. May 17. The bikes were valued at about $100 each.

22A 20-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for criminal damage to property in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue at 6:40 p.m. May 17. The man kicked in a car door belonging to his ex-girlfriend when she wouldn't give him a ride home.

23A handgun and a GPS unit were reported taken from a car in an underground garage in the 3900 block of North Oakland Avenue at 3 p.m. May 18. The gun, valued at $200, and the GPS, valued at $170, had been put in the car last November.

24A 19-year-old Brookfield man was arrested for theft of a bottle of wine and 12 cans of beer after a resident reported those items were taken from his truck as he unloaded groceries in the 3900 block of North Murray Avenue at 4:30 p.m. May 19. The suspect was stopped in the area and admitted the theft. He returned the items.

WHITEFISH BAY

25Items valued at more than $1,500 including a $900 purse, a $200 wallet, cosmetics valued at $300 and a camera were taken from a car in the Lydell Community Center, 5205 N. Lydell Ave., about 8:30 a.m. May 18. A witness reported seeing two men in a newer Chevrolet SUV with tinted windows, break the victim's car window and take the items.

26An unlocked car was entered and rummaged through in the 5500 block of North Lake Drive May 18 or 19. A small amount of change was taken.

27A woman reported a known sex-offender, a 71-year-old Glendale man, approached her and her daughter outside the Lydell Community Center, 5205 N. Lydell Ave., about 1 p.m. May 20. The man, who admitted speaking with the girl, was warned. He is not currently under supervision.

28A digital media player and stereo faceplate valued at $300 were taken from an unlocked car in the 6100 block of North Shoreland Avenue between 7:30 p.m. May 20 and 12:30 a.m. May 21.

29A 20-year-old Glendale woman was cited for underage drinking, 25 days before her 21st birthday, and warned regarding park hours at Big Bay Park, 5000 N. Palisades Road, at 1 a.m. May 21.

30A 25-year-old Whitefish Bay woman and a 28-year-old Milwaukee man were arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a report of suspicious activity in a car in the 100 block of East Fairmount Avenue at 3 a.m. May 21. Police confiscated 22.1 grams of marijuana, a pipe with residue and a scale. The woman's two children, 3-months and 5 years, were turned over to a relative and child welfare was notified.

NORTH SHORE FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded to 131 calls, 99 emergency medical and 32 fire/rescue, May 16 to May 20.

31A fire was reported in a bedroom of an apartment building in the 500 block of West Bradley Road, Fox Point, at 8:20 p.m. May 16. "Significant fire" was found in the walls and floor causing both fire and water damage to that apartment and also to the lobby's carpeting and ceiling. The tenant had lighted a prayer candle and forgot to put it out when she went shopping at a mall.
