Five people finalists for Bay manager

The Village Board has selected five candidates as finalists for the vacant village manager position.

They are Patrick Boyle, Curt Carver, Paul Evert, Denise Pieroni and Jason Slowinski.

Boyle, who has a master's degree in public administration, worked in Whitefish Bay from 2000-2005 as a management intern, assistant to the village manager and management assistant. He is currently the executive director of the Riveredge Nature Center in Saukville. He was the city manager in Cedarburg from 2005-2009.

Carver, who has a bachelor's of arts degree, has been the village administrator in Inverness, Ill., since 1997. He also worked as a program assistant, South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association, Ill., 1984-1986; administrative assistant, Carpentersville, Ill., 1986-1987 and village manager, Carpentersville, Ill., 1987-1997.

Evert, who has a law degree, has been the assistant city manager in Sun Prairie since 2007. His experience includes associate, private law practice, 1989-1993; assistant corporation counsel, Oneida County, 1993-2001; city attorney, Sun Prairie, 2001-2007.

Pieroni, who has a master's degree in public administration, has been the President of Organizational Strategies since 2009. Her experience includes assistant city manager, Woodstock, Ill., 1978-1983; city administrator, Jefferson, 1983-1990;finance director, Carpentersville, Ill., 1990-1991 deputy manager and administrative services director, Barrington, Ill.,1991-2003 and village manager, Barrington, Ill., 2004 (assumed duties) 2005 (officially appointed)-2009.

Slowinski, who has a law degree, has been the interim city manager in Des Plaines, Ill., since 2010. From 2008 to 2010 he was the assistant city manager in Des Plaines. His experience also includes planning technician, Shorewood from 1999-2000; urban planner, Alexandria, Va., 2001-2000 and assistant village administrator, River Forest, Ill., 2005-2008.

The candidates will be in the village on Friday and Saturday. The two days will include meetings with department heads, tours of the village and an informal reception Friday and interviews and a writing exercise on Saturday.
