Municipal, school board races take shape
North Shore voters will have plenty of choices in the April 6 school and municipal elections, but there will be just one primary race on Feb. 16 - as three candidates are vying for one seat on the Nicolet School Board.
Firemen, NSFD agree to contract
North Shore firefighters and the department's board of directors have agreed to a one-year contract for 2010 that will prevent demotions and layoffs in the department but will reduce minimum staffing from 29 to 27 firefighters per day. The original staffing level for the department when organized in 1995 was 30 firefighters per day. That was reduced due to budgets several years ago.

Foreclosure suit presents new challenge for New Land

Judge allows school districts' lawsuit over soured investments to continue
Five Wisconsin school districts' legal claims can go forward against banks that district officials say misled them to invest millions of dollars of borrowed money in risky investments, a judge decided Thursday.
Laughrin pleads guilty in Kiefer death
If a judge accepts the recommendation of a prosecutor, Matthew Laughrin will be sentenced to no more than 12 years in prison in the drug overdose death of Madison Kiefer, a 15-year-old Whitefish Bay High School freshman.

The Bayshore Town Center's Community Advisory Board is seeking opinions on the mall's new curfew policy.

Bayshore mall policy again aimed at black youths
Just like with Mayfair, the Bayshore situation seems to have more to do with perceptions rather than any actual threat from the teens. It's also more about the language and demeanor of some African-Americans who appear threatening to people not familiar with that particular group.
