Asher Nichols

Asher Nichols of Whitefish Bay died Feb. 10, 2009, at age 78.

He was an employee at M&I Bank for more than 45 years, retiring as executive vice president and chief credit officer. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was past president and director of The Skylight Opera Theatre, treasurer of the Florentine Opera Company, served on the finance committee of Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, was trustee for 12 years of the village of Whitefish Bay, was treasurer and member of the Advisory Board of the Milwaukee Public Library, past president of the American Diabetes Association, past treasurer of the Wisconsin Lung Association, past treasurer of Badger Association for the Blind, former director of M&I First National Leasing, past president of the Gyro Club of Milwaukee and longtime member of Tripoli Country Club, the Town Club and the University Club.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan (nee Stoller); children, Cindy (Doug) Stephenson, Scott (Carolyn) Nichols, Cathy (Dave) Markson and Chris (Maureen) Nichols; grandchildren, Erin and Courtney Stephenson, Scott and Megan Nichols, Steve and Charlie Markson, and Christopher and Katie Nichols; other relatives; and friends.

Service was Feb. 15 at North Shore Congregational Church, Fox Point. Private interment was at Forest Home Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to The Skylight Opera Theatre, 158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202; or Whitefish Bay Public Education Foundation, 1200 E. Fairmount Ave., Whitefish Bay, WI 53217.

The family thanks Dr. Anton Salud and the staff at Columbia Hospital for their care.

Feerick Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
