Watching "Meet the Press" on NBC-TV, with the moderator sitting between former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton was a change in the environment. I personally did not like either of their administrations or either of them personally. But there they were, exchanging cooperative comments about joining them in support of Haiti following that horrible earthquake there. Though differing in their political perspectives, they were able to put that aside for the good of humanity and for the good will of the American people. How absolutely appropriate and examplery was this action. In today's overheated political climate, with political wars swirling all around us, and every single thing dividing Americans in polarizing hatred, one could ponder for one brief moment the possibilities inherent in cooperation. Could it possibly become a catalyst to return to the sanity of politics and government in the U.S.?
On another front, I reminisce about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in America. I knew him. I knew his father, "Daddy King," better. I met his mother also. In fact, I was asked by Daddy King to speak at their church, Ebenezer Baptist in Atlanta. I sat on Daddy King's front lawn with him one night as he spoke of his son's murder exactly one year ago on that evening. He told me, "I thought that after one year the pain would begin to ease. It hasn't." I had no words. I was emotionally blown away. Someday some author will write a book about the impact of Daddy King on his son's life. It was profound. Someday, perhaps, a movie will be made about the largely untold story of Daddy King, the pastor with the worn-smooth dark blue suit, the humble man, the man of principle, the man of God. His story and influence must be told!
NBC's reporter and sometimes news anchor, Lester Holt, is reporting from Haiti. His reports are very good. He captures the essence of the tragedy and the spirit of the Haitian people. He spoke of sleeping outside one night and surrounded by all the hungry, thirsty, and ravaged people who began to sing in their suffering. Mr. Holt was inspired, but he didn't overplay it. But he did capture the special characteristics of the people of Haiti. The long-suffering people of Haiti, taken advantage of by colonial France and then a succession of cultural rapes by other nations, and also the devious leaders that ruled them. Yet, after a devastating earthquake, here they were tired and hungry and feeling personal tragedy, singing through the night. Those of us who have so much by comparison could learn from those people I hope we do.
At this rate, Mr. Schultz, you will not officially qualify as a "blog" writer. Your blog is far too hopeful. Please know that it is appreciated. Special.
All positive and I am impressed.
Mr. Schultz, I have followed your career and exploits for a long time. You continually surprise me. We all need the positive messages inherent in your blog.
Thanks.
One expects to find negative, anti, hateful, distorted messages in a blog. Yours, Mr. Schultz, is always filled with facts, usually some interesting historical reference, intellectual discourse. etc. But this one is special; this one is out-of-the-ordinary good. Someone connected with this system should give you an award or something. Thank you. Well done.
Through all the fighting and back-biting and lies and charges and hateful speech, comes this down-to-earth reminder that we can be good people at heart. I hope we all DO take heart in the message in this wonderful blog.
For all the years Obama taught the U.S. Constitution at the University of Chicago Law School, he either never really understood it or never believed it means what it says.
He never understood that real Americans will not be pushed around, cheated of their Constitutional birthright, or be lied to.
They will push back.
A former emperor, Napoleon of France, spent his last days as an exile on St. Helena. It would not surprise me if Emperor Obama spends his on one of Hawaii’s islands.
FLASH.......... GREETINGS FROM DOWNTOWN BOSTON.....Senator Scott Brown wins landslide!!! Obama 0-3!!!
Lester, Tom A, Krazy Kathy W.....its a wonderful night. The first shot of the revolution has been fired! Get used to being the outdated minority party. The adults will soon be in charge again. Obama will be the longest lame duck in US history and the liberal agenda is now D.O.A. The best part is to be here in person to experience it. Well lady liberals, the good news is that Uncle Ted has been sober for almost 6 months now!!! Enjoy it !!!!!

Nobody has any idea who it is who won the Mass. election. Certainly not a Republican. There was never any mention of the Republican Party, nothing ever appeared in the election literature, never on the campaign bus...never. So? Well, the gloaters will spin this however they want. But all this patting on their own backs by the commenters here who had absolutely nothing to do with t hat election themselves, I must ask this question: what does it all have to do with this blog entry? Think positive. Be an American!
Its nice to see you squirm Tommy!!! Call ur buddy Keith Olbermann and you 2 can cry over a cup of freshly brewed "citizens" TEA !!!!!!!!!!! See ya in November buddy.....make sure you know how to spell LANDSLIDE!!!! By the way, it has nothing to do with this anemic blog......it was the only way I knew how to get ur goat pal!!
Time to call in the battleships and piss on the Admiral, boys! War’s over! Tuesday night we witnessed the death of HopenChange! Tuesday night we witnessed “we the people” retaking our country from the vile communists elected under the guise of bipartisanship and transparency! Tuesday night we witnessed history!
Obama has awakened American Conservatives! He has gotten us off our couches and into the streets and voting booths! Obama’s monumentally stupid legislation and anti-American ideals have raised the ire of patriotic Americans. Obama has motivated us to retake our country from those who would destroy it. If a Independent Republican can win in Massachusetts, what does a Blue Dog DemonRat in North Carolina think? The revolution has started.
Ares! where are you? I thought you would be in here gloating.
The ONLY way that Barry and the Democrats can survive is to move to the middle as Clinton did. Personally, I don't think he will because of the radicalism of Pelosi, Reid, Soros, SEIU, Move On.org etc. These people will destroy his presidency. If he is as smart as they say he is, and if he is truly concerned about improving America, he will finally take the lead instead of just being a front and center spokesperson for Saul Alinsky and the progressives. It's jobs, jobs , jobs. The shot heard in Massachusetts will be heard across the U.S. in 2010, unless Mr. O changes course. None of us who have warned him and the liberals, are holding our breath however. Statement of the decade? "The People's Seat." As Rush said, "This one is for Mary Jo as in Kopeckne! I'm sure you remember her!
Boyz: see how the libs have tucked their tails between their legs and run for cover. Come on Lester, Krazy Kath, Tommy, Brent the blowhard....no comebacks or are you guys still as shell shocked as the political infants Olbermann and Matthews???? What a great year this is going to be now that the adults have taken the toy away from the kidz!!!
Don't worry Brachium, Ares won't be gloating. He is probably soaking down a few right now while munching on a cheese sandwich. We can't be too hard on him or Tom because they have hopelessly been trying to defend this Chicago thug group in Washington. Maybe, just maybe, they will actually see what the rest of America sees. We have been requesting that they wake up for a year now and maybe this is the shining light in the dark tunnel. I will pray for that. I think I am still allowed to say pray on this blog.
calling any and all Obama Kool-Aid drinkers... we know ur out there.....no comments?? Come on tough guys....
Humpty Obama sat on a wall
Humpty Obama had a great fall
All the thug's horses and all the thug's henchmen
Couldn’t put Humpty together again
Let's not be too tough on them. They have just been misguided and will soon come to the light. Who knows what the future holds, but, at least, this is one giant leap for all Americans. However, old Nancy will not give up that easily. I truly don't think that Harry and Nancy are that stupid. They now know how America feels. It took a while but now we can just wait and see. Did you know that Brown collected $1.3 million in one day and most of it was from out of state? That speaks volumes. IF THE DEMOCRATS HAD ANY SENSE, THEY WOULD START OVER WITH REFORM AND NOT 2000 PAGES. THEY WOULD ACTUALLY INCLUDE THE REPUBLICANS IN THE DEBATE BEHIND AN OPEN DOOR, WHICH WAS DONE WITH THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT, SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE PART D. I truly believe, that is the ONLY way they can ever pass health insurance reform. And start with Tort reform.
There is no end to this gloating over nonsense. Mr. Schultz, I hope you will write something to put all this over-reaction and stupidity in context. First, it has nothing to do with this excellent blog entry. Second, these guys have no life other than writing to themselves, as opposed to your blog which addresses much larger issues with intellect and REAL historical context. Third, where in the heck was the Republican Party in the Mass. election? Nowhere to be found. The candidate may have run to the right, but he certainly hid from any mention or print of the GOP...zero...
that is some hollow victory. The Dems could still force through the health care reform bill, but have chosen not to do so...besides, it is a terrible bill pieced together by wimpy Dems. There is plenty of blaming to go around in Mass. but it has absolutely nothing to do with the Republican Party. Nothing.
Everything written here by Gordy and friends is totally beside the point to this blog entry. You have a nice tmie talking to each other.
As usual Steven, you overlooked my FIRST comment reference the blog. You are right, the victory had nothing to do with the Republican party but it sure as heck had something to do with the Democrat party. I suspect that NOTHING in 2010 will match that Senate victory. And you are also right about the terrible bill. Had it not been for the conservatives and the rest of America, we would probably have this 2500 page debacle already. NOW, they must start over with Republican input and NOT behind closed doors. Lesson learned the hard way. Will Obama now move to the center and offend his left wing nuts? If not, the Democrats and Obama will suffer the same fate as they did in 1994. We had better all hope they do what is right for all of us not just their cronies.
Gordy: Once again you write things here that have absolutely nothing...please read: NOTHING...to do with this blog. What difference does it make what you wrote in your first response? After that, everything is about you feeling the need to state your extreme right-wingisms. Please search your soul. Your mission in life is not to state immaterial things and then compound the problem by using lies, distortions, and deceptions. Or, if that is what you feel is your mission, think about the hollowness of all that. What you write has nothing to do with this blog. And neither what I have written here does either. Now, to move on...
Thank you, Mr. Schultz, for sharing some touching moments from your life with us, and making points that do relate to present-day circumstances.
You are hopeless! I agree with you on two points and you then proceed to belittle the truth of things. You may as well save your strength and write something that makes sense. My mission is to get this country back out of the hands of these incompetents. I have thousands of people across this country who read my political TIDBITS and lo and behold things are happening. Probably not as a result of my efforts but the efforts of millions of people who see what you DON"T see. Blindness is catching in your world and it is very destructive. Why would Air America, ONCE AGAIN, go bankrupt and shut down? BECAUSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE FED UP WITH THEIR HATE AND WRONG OPINIONS. If you haven't woke up after this 365 day debacle, nothing will rouse you. How sad!
Yes, Gordy, we are all hopeless except the millions of people who read what you write. Your delusions are absolutely amazing. Why does Rush bother when the right-wing nutcases have YOU?
Oh Gordy, puh-leeze! Do you really, really, REALLY believe people read your tripe? C'mon. You use an alias, and perhaps one or two right-wing goofs agree with you. But for you to frame it as though you are making an impact??? You just have to know how stupid that reads. What is going on in the U.S. has absolutely zero connection to your elementary, little boy shouts. Tell me, did you help God create the universe also?
The truth hurts and you can't handle it. I was wondering when you would add your gibberish to my comments. Your anger at what just went on in Massachusetts is surpassed only by your inability to see why. I do enjoy your comments as it exposes just exactly how uninformed you are. You simply must get away from Maddow, Olbermann. They will be your demise. At least we don't have to worry about Air America anymore because of their umpteenth failure and bankruptcy. Most Americans understand so why is it so difficult for you. Failure breeds failure and this administration must be getting tired of failure. Now that Obama has declared war on the banks, he thinks people will get back on his side as everybody hates banks. 77% of investors are against that brilliant move as the stock market tumbles 400 points in 2 days. Just how many stupid moves can this administration make? And yes, God created the universe and he must have forgotten to include Wisconsin as per the brilliant comments you make. You are sadly on the wrong side of history. Maybe you should start studying the REAL American history and save your unintelligable remarks to those who care. Maybe your family if you have one!
P.S. You had best now turn on your television and watch your former quarterback, Favre, lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl! If not, at least they got closer than Green Bay, another team that I like.
Oops, Gordy is wrong again. His mistakes, lies, distortions all have proven to be his failing. Though Baby Gordy will not see Favre in the Super Bowl as he assured us nor the Packers either, someone will nurse him back to health, I'm sure. Read what the guy writes: Favre in the Super Bowl. Now read all the other lies and distortions he writes. Just read what Gordy writes...that's it.
