As I have given speeches around the United States through the years, as I have written in periodicals, as I have been interviewed in the media nationwide, and during my talk radio program, it has become clear to me that many Americans have no idea about our own history. We unfortunately think that only coloring things to make the U.S. look like "that shining city on a hill" is appropriate, and anything that is honestly and subjectively critical of this country is a sign of an unpatriotic scoundrel. We have suffered greatly from this lack of honesty about our nation. Indeed, we almost fell prey to an attempt to overthrow our popularly elected president, FDR, and establish a fascist-like government in the U.S.
A recent critic of mine pointed to his father's service in World War II to indicate he saved us from communism or worse: liberalism. But World War II was fought against fascism and Nazism, two types of government that are right-wing in their perspective and political philosophy. In fact, Henry Ford and other American industrialists actually financed the rise of Adolf Hitler in Germany. The Ford Motor Co. and the Chase Manhattan Bank, for example, stayed open in Hitler's German territory long after Germany was killing American troops. American bankers, as well as other European bankers, met with German and Mussolini's Italian bankers in Switzerland all through World War II. These bankers decided to support the German military regime at first, and then met to decide how to divide up the spoils and protect German industrialists after the War. But defeating Hitler did not end the threat of fascism, even in the U.S.
After World War II, many German political leaders and scientists and others found refuge in the U.S. and elsewhere. And the right-wing Americans continued their desire to destroy real democracy in America. The House Un-American Activities Committee in our own Congress went after anyone who had any sort of tie to liberal or leftist thinking. Lives and careers were destroyed by these right-wing attack dogs here in our own country, and at the highest levels. Then came our own Wisconsin Senator Joseph McCarthy who sniffed out anyone who ever sat next to a leftist, and he also destroyed lives and careers. He lied, exaggerated, distorted, and did everything he could to create fear about this phantom communism. He died in disgrace, though some right-wing loyalists pay homage to his grave and celebrate his life and "fight." But the United States, unique in the industrialized world, never had a big, organized, leftist movement
Then came the John Birch Society to hunt down liberals and distort truth. Again the right-wing tried to foment fear in the minds of Americans, just as Hitler had done in Germany in the 1930s and early 1940s. Though discredited, the John Birch Society did create enough lasting fear in the minds of Americans that "liberal" became a dirty word. But the right-wing wasn't finished.
Ronald Reagan created another scarecrow to instill fear in America. And while he was camouflaging his lifting of restrictions on banks and corporations, he gave away the economic store to his corporate buddies. We are now in the midst of a horrible economic disaster that began with Reagan's right-wing give-away program for greedy corporations. And to sustain these multi-billion-dollar welfare handouts to corporations, fear was used once again. Every trick was used to conjure up fear of some impending doom if the military-industrial complex was not fed corporate welfare. The latest fear is that Iran is soon going to bomb everybody with nuclear weapons. We invaded Iraq for whatever reason the Bush corporate lackies needed to use. We are in a quagmire in Iraq, and that country will fall apart as soon as we leave, whether it is in one year or twenty. Meanwhile corporate welfare continues unabated. And while you are being charged $700 billion to "save" banks and corporations, they are paying immense bonuses to their executives...using YOUR money! There is no end to right-wing, corporate greed.
I know some of you may wonder if all these words are hot air, distortion, exaggeration, etc. Read historical accounts. The more you read of HISTORY, the more you will find out that I am accurate and correct. You have been swindled by a political philosophy that is founded on the principle that you are to be paid as little as possible and you should spend as much as possible. When they overdid it to extremes, it collapsed of its own greedy weight. You have a chance, and only a chance, to turn this around in the next election. John McCain is ready to continue the military-industrial binge of corporate welfare, and make you pay for it.
Read: "Trading With the Enemy" and "American Swastika", two books about Hitler and American corporate leaders.
Check the web for things like this: bush.nazi, Prescott Bush, General Smedley Butler, DuPont-FDR, and the thousands of references of historical information about the above comments of mine. Be sure to check: Henry Ford.Hitler on the web. It is all in historical accounts. You may not like what I have written, but I ask you to read, check historical accounts, and do not rely on some knee-jerk response that you have been set up to give in reaction to the truth. Remember, General Butler exposed American corporations and the right-wing for their horrible attempts to make war, overthrow our government, and how the military lies to us over and over and over...remember also, General Smedley Butler received the Medal of Honor during his many years of service in the U.S. Marines. All critics of the right-wing are not kooks or unpatriotic. In truth, it is the corporate and military coziness and the right-wing that are unpatriotic.
Read: WAR IS A RACKET by Major General Smedley Butler, twice awarded the Medal of Honor for his wartime service in the Marine Corps. A beloved leader by Marine veterans.
