Summer Reading Wrap-Up

             Our summer reading programs have come to an end. Our final numbers are in, and here’s how everyone finished.

Youth Services
986 is the total number of children who participated in our summer reading program.
319 of those children were in the read-to-me program, in which they read together with a grownup.
667 of those children were in the readers program, in which they read books by themselves.
There were 3 levels that children had the opportunity to complete in the program.

Level 1
722 total children finished level 1 of the program.
252 of those kids finished level 1 in read-to-me program. To complete the level, kids were required to read 5 books.
470 of those kids finished level 1 in the readers program. To complete the level, kids were required to read for 3 hours.

Level 2
522 total children finished level 2 of the program.
191 of those kids finished level 2 in read-to-me program. To complete the level, kids were required to read 10 books.
331 of those kids finished level 2 in the readers program. To complete the level, kids were required to read for 4 hours.

Level 3
332 total children finished level 3 of the program.
84 of those kids finished level 3 in read-to-me program. To complete the level, kids were required to read 15 books.
248 of those kids finished level 3 in the readers program. To complete the level, kids were required to read for 5 hours.
(In 2013 we had 203 children finish the program. With 332 finishing this year, we had nearly a 64% increase from the previous year.)

The readers logged nearly 4,000 hours of reading, and the read-to-me children read 4,430 books together with a grown-up.

Young Adult
164 young adults from grades 6-12 signed up for our teen summer reading program.
78 total teens completed the program.

Adults
149 adults participated in our adult summer reading program
895 was the total number of books read by adults in the program.
