GREED IS DESTROYING THE U.S.
There is never enough money, never enough profits, never enough war and greed to satisfy American corporations. The big corporations in the U.S. have squeezed to get every last drop out of our economy. They have shipped millions and millions of American jobs overseas, usually to someplace where they can pay slave wages, get away with horrid working conditions, and twist the morals and ethics of producing their ill-gotten goods anyway they can. Products, once safely made by Americans, now arrive from foreign workplaces loaded with mercury, lead, viruses, etc. It is sad and disgusting but true.
While European corporations send much of similar work over to backward nations and places where they can get cheap labor, far more of their industrial out-put remains in Germany, Sweden, etc. They make a handsome profit, but not an ungodly one. Greed has not gripped European corporations as it has American corporations.
The "greed factor" has been transfered to the mainstream of America. The problem is that Americans got used to filling their face, accumulating huge amounts of material things, making risky high-profit investments, etc. But they had to make a fine salary to do this. Their jobs have been shipped overseas by greed corporations. American corporations are losing the huge, former American marketplace. Without decent wages, Americans cannot buy the products of American corporations. Coupled with the equally greedy banks and financial institutions, the American economy is on the brink of a long-standing collapse. These greed corporations in the U.S. have been saved by American tax money used to keep them afloat until they can re-configure. What that usually means is that they can break labor union contracts with impunity and pay far lower wages. But the new wage scale does not allow for the former, huge American market to buy the products.
Every American is looking for someone to blame. Look in the mirror. Do you see a greedy figure? And don't think it is as easy as blaming one political party or the other. Republicans defend the greed factor in American free enterprise. Democrats create an unwelcoming business climate. Yes, those are oversimplifications, but it indicates that there is plenty of blame to go around. One added factor however. When corporate greed greatly oversteps any boundary of ethics, morals, or human rationality and decency is when the greed turns to war and fostering unnecessary wars. We have allowed our nation and ourselves to become immoral and unethical people. How can we stand ourselves this way?
