BIGGEST THREAT TO U.S.

We get so wrapped up in Republican-Democrat, right-left, conservative-liberal that we have not noticed the real threat to the United States of America resides at 133 C Street SE in Washington, D.C.  I am not exaggerating when I say this.  For over 70 years a plot has been organizing, growing, and consolidating power.  Most presidents, left or right, have at some time paid notice to this power.  It is a movement of fundamentalist-like "Christians" who have bold pronouncements like this regarding over 15,000 close adherents in the U.S. military: "[Intent on] reclaiming territory for Christ in the military."

American toops, returning from Iraq or Afghanistan, are ordered to stand at attention, and then are given lectures by officers that they are returning from "fighting Satan" and "reclaiming land for Jesus Christ from the heathens."  Standing at attention are Christians, but also Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, etc.  When asked about this, one general in the Middle East admitted being totally unfamiliar with the First Amendment.

A new book, just out: "C Street: The Fundamentalist Threat to American Democracy" by Jeff Sharlet.  The author got inside this "family."  His report about its deviousness, its goals, its deceptions, its schemes, etc. are based upon first-hand observations.  Here is part of a book summary in www.bookbrowse.com:

"C Street - where piety, politics, and corruption meet - Jeff Sharlet is the only journalist to have reported from inside the C Street House, the Fellowship residence known simply by its Washington, DC address.  The house has lately been the scene of notorious political scandal, but more crucially it is home to efforts to transform the very fabric of American democracy.  And now, after laying bare its tenants' past in THE FAMILY, Sharlet reports from deep within fundamentalism in today's world, revealing that the previous efforts of religious fundamentalists in America pale in comparison with their long-term ambitions.

"When Barack Obama entered the White House, headlines declared the age of culture wars over.  In C STREET, Sharlet shows why these conflicts endure and why they matter now - from the sensationalism of Washington sex scandals to fundamentalism's long shadow in Africa, where Ugandan culture warriors determined to eradicate homosexuality have set genocide on simmer..

"We've reached a point where piety and corruption are not at odds but one and the same.  Reporting with exlusive sources and explosive documents from C Street, the war on gays in Uganda, and the battle for the soul of America's armed forces - waged by a 15,000-strong movement of officers intent on 'reclaiming territory for Christ in the military' - Sharlet reveals not the last gasp of the old-time religion but the new front lines of fundamentalism."

A review of the book C STREET by author Peter Manseau [RAG AND BONE; A JOURNEY AMONG THE WORLD'S HOLY DEAD AND SONGS FOR THE BUTCHER'S DAUGHTER]: "At once a gripping political thriller, a masterpiece of investigative journalism, and a timely call to arms.  C STREET reveals all that can be hidden within an innocuous Washington address.  Jeff Starlet delivers a warning that the blurring of the line between church and state is both an urgent local problem and a matter of global concern."

Some of the most immoral conservative politicians have resided there, including the Governor of South Carolina who had a well-publicized Argentinian mistress while married.  Read about other sleazy, God-pronouncing, conservative politicians who resided there at low cost in a facility that gets tax breaks because it is listed as a "church."  It is in actuality, among other things, a dormitory for saboteurs of the Constitution and immoral hacks that serve in politics.  But that group extends out internationally...

From the book C STREET, quotes from the author about visting Uganda and the fundamentalist plot to kill all gays: "I went at the invitation of David Bahati, who is a member of parliament in Uganda who has proposed the kill the gays bill. . .[He] was very candid about his political education in the United States, his friendships with American politicians, his great admiration for Senator Jim Inhofe who has visited a lot and talk about the moral underpinnings of a government led by God.

"I asked him, I said, 'Is the goal to kill all the people?'  And he said, 'Well, in a perfect world, yes.  But we live in a democracy, so we go step by step ...'  He felt that he had received no pressure from the Americans to drop the bill...mainly what The Family is doing is managng PR...

"He said that, you know, one of the great things was that although some of the Americans have denounced the bill, they could continue to work together on other Biblical issues...like defense contracts."

Reading the C STREET book is like reading an American nightmare.  This is right-wing fundamentalist "Christianity" gone crazy, loony, and most of all, dangerous.  The Family holds tremendous power in Washington, and it is exerting it.  The plethora of lies and deceptions being foisted on the U.S. in the coming elections is carefully drawn up by this group.  And they know how to get the job done.

America is at peril.  Wearing an American flag as a pin, or showing off the cross does not make on either a patriotic American or a Christian.  Read this book!

Back in June 26, 2009, during one of its many episodes with an adulterous "Chrstian" right-winger at the C Street house, Manuel Roig-Franzia wrote in the Washington Post: "It blends into the streetscape, tucked behind the Library of Congress, a few steps from the Cannon House Office Building, a few more steps to the Capitol.  This is just the way its residents want it to be.  Almost invisible.

"But through one week's events, this stately old pad - a pile of sturdy brick that once housed a convent - has become the very nexus of American scandal, a curious marker in the gallery of capital shame.  Mark Sanford, South Carolina's disgraced Republican governor and a former congressman, looked here for answers - for support, for the word of God - as his marriage crumbled over his affair with an Argentinian woman.  John Ensign, the senator from Nevada who just seven days earlier also was forced to admit a career-shattering affair, lives there.

"C Street,' Sanford said Wednesday during his diffuse, cryptic, utterly arresting confessional news conference, is where congressmen faced 'hard questions.'

"On any given day, the rowhouse at 133 C.St. SE - well appointed, with American flag flying, white-and-green-trimmed windows and a pleasant garden - fills with talk of power and the Lord.  At least five congressmen live there, quietly renting upstairs rooms from the organization affiliated with 'the Fellowshiip,' the obsessively secretive Arlington spiritual group that organizes the National Day of Prayer."

Read the book C STREET.  Before you draw conclusions about it, read the book.  It is frightening.  It is loaded with factual information about the direction of the U.S., about how and why our military is engaged in battles in the Middle East, about how secretly and "holy" are military contracts let out, how our federal budget goes to the wealthy powers and corporations that finance the Fellowship, and how your tax money is being spent to make immense profits for "Christian" billionaires.  If you do not read this book, you will continue to be played for a sucker.  Read the book!
