Celebrating 75 years of school

Milwaukee Brewers infielder and Whitefish Bay High School graduate Craig Counsell and his wife will kick off the school's 75th anniversary celebration Saturday, May 10, as leaders of the Run/Walk the Bay. Go to story

NOW Photo by John O'Hara Later this summer, a person will be able to ride a bike from Sheboygan, through the North Shore, to Milwaukee's lakefront on a paved path. The 10-foot wide, off-road, paved paths making up the route, commonly called bike paths, attract walkers, moms pushing strollers, in-line skaters - and bikers.

The Run the Bay 5K fun run, with proceeds benefiting Whitefish Bay public schools, takes place at 9 a.m. at Richards School, 5812 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Whitefish Bay. For information, call (414) 915-1158 or visit wfbschools.com.

Bikefest to feature safety checks
Date: Saturday, May 10
Bikefest, featuring bicycle safety checks, guided family rides and a picnic, begins at 9 a.m. at Thiensville Village Park, 250 Elm St.; call (262) 242-8090 for details.

Preserving Our History Whitefish Bay High School's 75th anniversary will be celebrated in a huge community event on Saturday that will feature a fine arts sale, tours of the school and historic exhibits.

NOW reporter Jane Ford will be hand at the celebration and will blog live throughout the festivities.

in Mother's Day Contest

Holly Hopton Congratulations to Holly and Ruby Hopton of Milwaukee, who were voted the winners in the MyCommunityNOW.com and MilwaukeeMoms.com Mother-Daughter Look-Alike Contest.Mother and daughter each will receive a $250 savings account courtesy of Johnson Bank.

Johnson Bank Neva and Alexus Pipia of Menomonee Falls took second place and Sandi and Randi Trupke of Milwaukee won third place in the contest, and each will receive a $50 restaurant certificate.
