After months of being ripped up, the newly beautified Silver Spring Drive will have a grand re-opening celebration at 1 p.m. Friday at Silver Spring and Berkeley Boulevard.
Milwaukee Brewer Craig Counsell, a Whitefish Bay High School graduate, spoke to Nicolet players before the Knights took on Bay in a North Shore Conference baseball match up. Whatever he said worked as Nicolet routed Bay, 12-2.

Fun for the FourthIndependence Day in the Bay features a parade, beginning at 11:30 a.m., that will make its way east from Kent down the refurbished Silver Spring Drive to Lake Drive and north to Klode Park. Events at the park include a flag raising and playing of the National Anthem at 1 p.m., live music, games for kids of all ages from 1 to 4 p.m. and food and beverages. Fireworks are set for dusk and will be fired from the park bluff.
